FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Take a minute to browse through common questions about our services 3D Virtual Tours capture every dimension and angle of a property. For this reason, the entire space needs to be in suitable condition for photography before the appointment. Please make sure the space is clean, the furniture is arranged, and decor is to your preference. The work we do is time-consuming by itself. With additional distractions, a 3 hour appointment can quickly turn into a 5 hour appointment.
The more people who are in the property during the photo shoot, the less successful it usually is. Please invite homeowners and guests to leave the home during the appointment. People and pets will slow down the process considerably and they might potentially show up in the virtual tour.
Invoices for payment are generally sent along with the final media components. Payment is due 3-5 days after everything is delivered. If this is not convenient, please discuss it beforehand. Otherwise, the 3D virtual tour and property website will be automatically disabled and a late fee will be added to the invoice.
APPOINTMENTS & SCHEDULING
What do I need to do before the appointment?
Please have the space in a condition suitable for presentation before the scheduled appointment. We would prefer to not spend time during the appointment cleaning or rearranging furniture.
Please provide instructions in the appointment scheduling form on how to access the property or how to obtain lockbox codes.
What do I need to do during the appointment?
You are not required to be on site during the appointment. Typical appointments last between 1-5 hours depending on services requested. Please communicate with the home or property owner if they will be present that the work we do is time consuming but worth it! If you will not be present at the appointment, please supply a lockbox code.
What if the weather is bad on the day of my appointment?
Our 3D cameras use High-Dynamic-Range Imaging allowing the camera to adjust to changes in light so both light and dark areas can be captured at the same time. This means that a space is good for scanning even on cloudy days. As long as there is interior lighting, the finished project will look as good as a model created on a sunny day.
For Still Photos, we also can enhance the photos to make colors and skies pop. Some of our best photoshoots were on cloudy days!
When you schedule an appointment, you will automatically receive login credentials by email allowing you to login and reschedule or cancel if need be. Please cancel 48 hours before the time of the appointment.
Are there any cancelation fees?
We understand that it can take significant coordination between multiple people to schedule a successful photoshoot. Aligning our schedule with those of the homeowner, agent, landscaper, painter, cleaner, and the weather doesn’t always go as planned. We try to be as flexible as possible.
If you do need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before the appointment to avoid a $50 cancellation fee. To cancel your appointment, please email us @ email@example.com
What is your turnaround time?
Turnaround time is typically 1-3 Days (excluding Sundays) depending on the requested services and size of the property.
3D VIRTUAL TOURS
How are your tours different than traditional virtual tours?
A traditional virtual tour isn’t really virtual. It’s just a gallery of stationary panoramic photos. Although techniques vary, most traditional tours don’t allow the viewer to move around within the space. At the very most, traditional tours offer 10 individual locations to view the space. Traditional photographers use DSLR cameras to capture multiple photos which are then stitched together to form a panorama which is viewed from a player.
Our 3D virtual tours allow the viewer to explore the space in up to 200 locations that are seamlessly stitched together. We use high tech Matterport 3D cameras which have 12 cameras and sensors to not only capture photos but to create a polygon mesh. This mesh is rendered into a dynamic 3D model which can be explored online or even with a virtual reality headset such as an Oculus Rift! Plus, our 3D models also show a “Floor Plan View” as well as a “Dollhouse View” to allow the viewer to conceptualize the space.
How long does it take to scan a typical space?
It typically takes 30-40 minutes for every 1,000 square feet. Each individual scan takes about 1 minute.
Which browsers are compatible with our 3D tours?
Jônt 3D Virtual Tours use WebGL, the modern standard for 3D content viewed on the web. On desktop computers, WebGL is supported by the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. On mobile devices, WebGL is supported by Safari for iOS 8 and Chrome for Android. Loading times typically take longer on mobile devices. If you can’t view the Virtual Tour, please update your browser.
Can I download the Virtual Tour?
3D Virtual Tours are a proprietary format. They are neither video nor photos. They are their own unique file format that must be used online. For the reason, they cannot be downloaded. However via the mobile app you can download for offline use which means you do not need to be online to view the tour. This is handy for iPad, iPhone and any other tablets you may have.
What kind of camera techniques do you use?
We use high-end Canon DSLRs, Wide Angle and Prime Lenses, and extensive lighting equipment. We use a wide variety of techniques depending on the property and lighting including multiple off-camera flashes, strobes, and High Dynamic Range. Each photo is extensively post-processed to adjust color, temperature, brightness, contrast, saturation, vibrance, sharpness, luminance, and more. We also can enhance photos by removing objects, sky replacement, and fireplace enhancement.
How long is a typical photography session?
Because we bring in high-end equipment, our process is not a cheap or quick, get-in, get-out appointment. We take our time to compose each shot and assess the lighting and angles. Please allow at least an hour to 2 hours for the photos alone, independent of other services which are also time consuming.
Do I own the photos?
It is customary for photographers to retain the copyright. We do reserve that copyright and require you to use the photos only on the specified property. If you would like to use them for another purpose, please contact us first.
